All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.

-Pablo Picasso

I have always believed that art would be a meaningful part of my life.  As life moved forward art seemed less and less likely:  my children, work, service in the military and two combat deployments.   I first believed that life got in the way of art.  Today I see that my life made art possible.

I understand that my paintings, like life, are often unclear and evoke more questions than answers. My paintings are abstract and often depict an illusion of visible reality.  Creating art brings me joy and knowing that there are others who connect to it and share similar emotions also brings me joy.

I believe there is nothing more intimate than sharing your story and I feel compelled to share my story through my paintings.

There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.

-Maya Angelou
